Day 33-34: Vasquez Rocks and Hiker Heaven
Start: 444.ish Acton KOA
End: 454.5 Hiker Heaven – Agua Dulce
I have been feeling really fatigued lately. Some of it may be getting less sleep due to being nearer civilization, sounds, lights, snoring, and party people staying up too late. But some of it isn’t that.
The climb out of Acton wasn’t so bad, felt strong enough. Ate some leftover pizza. Then hit the Vasquez rocks. They are pretty glorious. See photos.
Rolled in to Agua Dulce. This is the first town that the trail cuts straight through and uses the streets. Had pizza, got a ride to hiker heaven (see video clip, this place is amazing). Opened three packages — food from mom <3, my replacement Fitbit, and some new bamboo spoons to replace the one I snapped the single time I’ve fallen. I immediately gave the extra spoon away — that’s why I buy them two at a time. Hung out. Went to a Mexican restaurant for $1.35 taco Tuesday. Charged all my devices and went to bed too late.
Day 34: taking an unplanned zero at hiker heaven. Not going to bother writing anything unless something particularly interesting happens. Might make it to REI.
