Fitbit: 36,513 steps as of 6:18, writing this in my tent chilling with maybe 11 people.
Hike ended at bush camp 38.79

Alarms went off at 5am again, this time we got off to a pretty late start, maybe 6:20. Hiked with Kirstie Phil and Daniel again, now known as TMF… started out pretty easy, we passed under I-8,

and started climbing. We walked, we climbed, we walked and climbed more.

Nice pano as we climbed up.  See featured image
Finally we found some good shade, area in an oasis with a lot of trees. temperature was probably 15 degrees cooler then everywhere else. I left about five minutes ahead of the group because with the climb I was going much slower. We planned to meet 2 miles ahead. Climbing, hiking, bombs, climbing…

The rest of the group blew past me. Plan was to rest and wait out the mid day heat, but when I caught up to them I just didn’t think I would be able to spread out, stretch, or be comfortable so I slogged ahead until I found a huge oak tree with great shade.
I recuperated for an hour until Clair and David showed up (forgot to get their photo)

I hiked with them for a few miles, but they are young and fit and eventually I had to let them go. I crossed a stream, didn’t add water believeed there would be more and then promptly ran out. There WAS more water, but I took a wrong turn when I went looking for it and probably added a mile to my day. Found it just as I was getting upset, without it I had the choice of hiking dry another five miles to town, or back hiking a mile to the stream. Camped near the water.
.
Food! I ate miso and couscous for dinner, first time I cooked myself a hot meal. The miso (all three packets) was super delicious, I hope I get to have more. The couscous seemed like filler.
Ran in to Jessica at camp an hour later, she was at scout and frodos, but started a day later
