Day 120: Whitney was half my trip ago
Start: 1501.22, but hiked 2-3 miles getting there.
End: 1516.43 – fabulous view bush camp
Today was around 100 degrees again. 4000 feet elevation gain. Hikers stopping and taking hours long breaks often. Surprisingly even though I felt ultra slow, I seemed to be dealing with it a bit better than average.
It is so hot my feet don’t get sweaty in my shoes…
I may have hit hiker hunger finally. I ate way too much food today. I am going to have to moderate that or I’ll never make it to Etna.
We hiked up around the Castle Craig’s. And we stopped in an absolutely stunning spot.
Fire smog rolled in during the day, I’m coughing a little and I can feel the headache I get from smoke creeping up.
The good news: it looks like the trail is going to stay level around 7000 feet for at least a week! Ought to be relatively easy trail, and almost high enough to mitigate temperatures somewhat.
Dirty hot hikers hiding from the sun.
Leaving Castle Craig’s behind.
Shasta is ever present lately.
